Knowing she could look over but never did,
I believe to this day I dreamt up those eyes as a kid,
Never believing I'd find them half-asleep and eclipsed
By the quietest journey I'd ever take.
But by the time i reached out to hang onto her hand
She had slipped into the deepest sleeping trance,
Into a quiet calm that'd never come back

Love or an angel, unearthly or faithful,
Ill never explain how that gaze became a sort of prayer

The blind lead the blind through a parted sea of destinations,
A line with many stops, and none to feel safe in,
And some have gotten used to looking past,
I've lost her glimpse, the purest truth in nothing,
And that's enough reason to never look back
