So it's been about a year of reading news articles and other things and I've always wondered why writers capitalize the word "black" when referring to Black people. It's just a color.
My best guess is because Latino, Asian, Italian, etc. are all capitalized. But then the question becomes why don't we capitalize "white" when talking about white people? I've literally read that "this would play into the hands of white supremecists." So it's not done. You've gotta be kidding me. I'm a liberal but I'm a little bit sick of all this excessive white guilt. I'm kinda an English nerd that's why this inconsistency is bothering me. Any thoughts?
