I'd like to think being the champ should give me better seeding in this otherwise it devalues the title. Lars was the champ when he left and I'm ok with him being seeded at 1# but there's an argument to be made that leaving the league for several weeks without defending the title would count as vacating it. If that was the case he'd be seeded at #4 in the current rankings.

In any event in a 16 person tournament I'd set the initial brackets as so:

I think that's how the pro's do it.
