It really is a great question. I was a die-hard cavs fan growing up in the times of an 'awesome team' who could never get by MJ's bulls.

during this times, pippen always seemed like just a tertiary player to MJ. I was surprised when he made it into the hall of fame --- but i guess i 'get it' too.

MJ is such an x-factor though --- Pippen may have not even been a household name at this point without MJ, who was constantly, and i mean CONSTANTLY doubled, AND skilled at making everyone around him better.... Pippen benefited immensely from this in terms of stats AND championships....

It's clear how MJ helped him BUT, it's worth considering how his presence hurt Pippen in terms of "what Pippen really contributed as an NBA player itself". I do not think Pippen would have been 'enough' to build a team around on his own -- but it is almost hard to say because of the MJ factor.

As such - all time list is kinda hard for me -- but i'd put him as "THE #1 of the #2 PLAYERS EVER"! He is probably the best of the second class/supporting cast players, again, supporting the best player ever (only maybe rivaled 10 or so years from now when LBJ hangs it up...)
