irony: Have you every heard of the UH-OH EFFECT?
Connie Gersich out of UCLA did some very fascinating research on midpoints. basically people who came to a midpoint (not beginning or end) and realized they were behind did one of two things. This realization lit a fire under them, or they cemented into their bustedness.
