I don't think I understand anything other than you think the status quo is bad, but I'll try to argue for funsises.
I wouldn't necessarily go that far. I think with truly comprehensive campaign finance reform, it could be achieved. Currently, money = speech and corporations are considered people. The problem is that this sort of change would need to come from a legislative body, usually elected, who's elections have big money in them, and the big donors pump money into campaigns that let them continue consolidation of money, which becomes more influence to have on further elections. In theory, a local government elected by a well-informed community could beat the odds on a small scale, and this happening across the board could help less corrupt people come to power, which could lead to a more balanced framework for national government (eg redistricting) which might make an individual vote more equal That's about all I got |
