The kindest thing to do in this kind of situation is have the dog put to sleep imo.
It might seem cruel, but the animal is in pain, at the most all that will happen by keeping it alive is to prolong that pain, best to let him/her go. It's like watching part of your family die, I dunno how I'll deal with it when my dog's time comes. RIP Lucy.
