Had this discussion with myself in my mid to late teens. Everyone manipulates. This book, or books like it, only make you more conscious of some of the manipulations you probably already use and allow you to focus it, if you so desire. A conscious effort not to manipulate; to be genuine or 'keep it real', can lead down a road of extreme anti-social behavior. You'll recognize personality as finely tuned manipulations, only people aren't aware of it, they just see it as 'who they are'. It's a burden to be intelligent enough to see most sides of things. The average person only sees their personality, their life and their perspective. So when they act the way they do, they don't understand why, they only adapt, react and live. When you start to learn that behavior is just a form of manipulation, and see all the different perspectives at once then you start to realize just how silly we all are.
