It's just one example of how you can subtly make a line/rhyme better by adding assonance or internal schemes. Most of us here have been doing this for a while. No one is coming up with much that's refreshing or new in the world of wordplay. Current events is the best way to seem fresh. When a dude named Machine Gun Kelly talks about your 13 year old being hot, then as a rapper it's easy to make the connection. It's the way he uses it. It's subtle. It's relevant. He adds other elements to make the rhyme/line flow and sound better. Like I said. One example. Point is... I looked at 5 Cole songs off that album you said was lyrically better than Kamikaze and none of it was even worth breaking down. It's all just straight forward rhyming. Take the first song off Kamikaze and you could teach a class on rhyme writing. |
