A mic. A mixer with phantom power. A stand with a spit screen and some quality headphones that cover ya ears. For the recording program torrent cool edit(it has a new name now though i think).

cool edit = adobe audition
and yea mic, stand, spit screen, recording prog, mixer, dynomat, it depends how much u want to spend, and wht u want for final product i mean u can get keyboard, mpc, beat making software (like fruityloops,) mastering software (t-racks) its all what u want even with a mic u can go dynamic to condensor depending on $$ and u need the space, ideally with solid walls (no cut outs for windows and sht) |

If you want to be serious, invest in some monitors rather than mixing with your cans. I'd recommend either ProTools (if recording) or Ableton Live (if sampling). An audio interface is essential, and if you're recording, having a decent mic will greatly improve your sound. Try and set up your studio in the largest room of your house, otherwise your critical frequency is gonna be waaaay too high, which leads to a lot of problems with resonances and so on.
I mean, how serious do you wanna be about it? |
