Snowden 'leaks' that the government is illegally spying on citizens. News outlets largely dismiss the Big Brother story and instead spend 24 hours a day focusing on Snowden's extradition. A different, much more concerning story involving leaks that first broke in June of last year suddenly becomes headline material, subsequently making the Snowden leak appear that much more severe by mere association. So clever.
