Intro: Text ISN’T Dead...

First and fore most I want to kick this off by giving props to all the competitors for stepping up to the plate on short notice and jumping into the trenches with me on this one. That shows me who's really here to battle for the love or fun, and I respect that. It also says something about the state of the site in my opinion, look how fast we filled up the sign ups. Some people like to say this is a topical site now, far as I post here I refuse to believe that and will do my best to prove the opposite. That was what made we want to run this event as well as what inspired me to put the card together the way I did. Which is making match ups I believe people would want to read. I had no inclination to "feed" the weaker competitors to the vets early on, that does not mean we won't have a opportunity to see some up sets in the later rounds.. just that I wanted to get some really dope match ups out as soon as possible. To champ anything you got to go threw tough competition, so anyone who is unhappy with there first round match should take that into consideration. Also if you no show I will be highly unlikely to fuck with you in any tourney I run or am involved with in the future, and that's not a threat. Thing is I put together the majority of this list of battlers cause I consider them reliable and on point with they shit. Hope everyone shows, this should be the first of many steps to get shit more competitive and consistent around here. If your reading this and your not in the tourney that's for supporting what we doing here and go join the NBL right now.

Now for the Rules:

I know this tourney sprung up sort of out of nowhere and I think that's a positive thing. Just want to clear up a few things for the participants who might be questioning the format right now.


1. No brackets. I will be putting the matches together in what I think are the most compelling and competitive ways.

BUT

If 2 battlers agree on facing each other I am more than fine with that. More so I encourage you guys be vocal on who you want to face

2. First round is 12 lines max. Go over 12 I'll cut ur wackest lines until it's 12

3. PM me your verses. Don't worry about threads

4. These are due FRIDAY

5. Finally there are 2 alternate matches to insure us against double no shows

Meet the Talent:

ill nik-A

I literally think may have been doing this for a decade. The fact that he has been able to stay not only relevant but competitive at the highest levels for the entirety of that time is pretty impressive in my book. Another thing I admire about Nik is that he genuinely cares about every battle, he wants to win every time. I imagine it's that spirit of competitiveness that has kept him at the top of the food chain for well longer than many of us have been doing this.


Orc

The most impressive thing about this man in my opinion is that he started his txt run solely using the long bar style where to my knowledge he was also succesful. He was also one of the first dudes far as I know to be extremely successful in the change. In my opinion Orc doing that paved the way or at least opened the door for dudes like Neighbor, Dominate, Aero and others to do the same. Orc was also one of the dudes I can credit with taking my game to the next level and was one of the guys I looked up to and wanted to emulate early on when I got back into txt.


Karaoke

Kar is a ill ass dude to me. His shit has always been easy to relate to to me. Lot of people try to play it off like he all current bars but I got to go against the grain here cuz I say he'll nah. Kar is murder with the personals and always got a touch of that gritty ny real life shit. I also appreciate the fact Kar is here solely to get his battle on, and has won all his accolades without making friends or politicin. That's something I have to salute


God of War

Gow had a hell of an impressive run a few years back and was one of the guys to beat without debate on the old NC. I think gow was the only dude to win back to back NBL Season titles which is a feat to accomplish only once let alone twice. To think he did it two times is a accomplishment in itself. Being the former owner of NC may have put some extra pressure on gow in my opinion so I am interested to see what he brings to the table with the freedom of being only a competitor.


Bags

Leader of the new school, discussion board bully, and the dude with the most accomplishments. I may go so far as to say peoples champ may be another appropriate title to give him. Bags has a signature and unmistakable sense of humor which translates well into battle rap.


Allen Knight

Long time journeyman txtcee Allen has finally reached his stride in my personal opinion. Always a tough match and never someone to sleep on, but never quite reaching his potential.. til now. I honestly think the time is now for AK to continue to make his lasting mark and lead the next generation of cats on the ins and outs of txt.


Swerve

This dude champed more than his fair shit at NC version one and consistently competed at a high level. I'll be honest I don't know much of Swerve so I got nothing else to say.


Tettris

Tet is another one of the NC v1 alumni. And I'm talking about nc heyday. Dude has been in some heated battles with big names and given me some of my fav battles of all time. Tet is impressive in that he's one of those guys who goes away and doesn't get rusty. Let's see if his return this time can bring him back to the top of the heap.


Aero

The self proclaimed goat. Bottom line is Aero generates views, one of the last true heels of txt and for that he should be applauded. Aero can be both creative and harsh in his execution but also plagued by lazyness.
My opinion of his writing skill is highly regarded or he would not of been one of my first choices.


Strikta

Strik is a fucking g. This man don't give a fuck what anyone thinks and I respect that. He is fearless in exposing his weaknesses to his enemies and I can admire that. Strik def got a warriors mind state and it transfers into his verses.


Eddie the Munster

Man Eddie used to be one of my favs but at one point he stopped giving a fuck and went full trolltard. Still, whenever Eddie battles he has at least 1 hard ass line. Another thing I love about Ed is he can transfer that raw URL style to txt. If Eddie tries he can give anyone in this a run for there money. And that's something I'd put my money on.


Diode

Never saw this dude battle, never heard anyone mention this dude and txt battling in the same sentence. I know Diode is a vet of the scene and imagine he must of been dope at some point so I gave him a shot. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.


Witty

Never seen Witty battle but he has a certain way of saying shit that I imagine could make for some entertaining insults.


CtrlF4

Don't know much about this dude, name looks familiar. Saw he was in a NBL champ match, as well as some of the other battlers suggested he deserved this spot. His peers picking him out for a spot in the tourney says a lot so I hope he brings it.


Destroyer

I just saw Des drop one of his best verses ever in the NBL this week. If that Des shows every round I wouldn't be surprised if he champs this. If des takes the easy route and uses throwaway concepts I will murder him in his sleep.


Alphabet

I'll be honest Alph is the only dude who's in this because they actively lobbied for they spot. That's something id be worried about if he was my opponent. Dudes hungry and wants to be in this, he wants to prove he deserves the shot. This may be his only chance so he should lay it on the punch line.


Jimmy

Jimmy is in this because I read his NBL verse and recognized the technical skill behind it. Turns out I was right because ole Jimbo is not exactly a new hand at this battle thing. I look forward to reading what he brings down the line.


Tyler

Tyler is a former NBL champ and can be one of the more creative dudes on the site when he brings his A game. His style reminds me of a less refined John Hensley, and while I hate to compare ppl to ppl it fits in this case. I honestly think Ty can be as good as he wants to be so his showing in this tourney should be intriguing.
