Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler is dope.

I wish I read more enjoyable stuff tbh. I read entirely too much nonfiction.

Enders Game and the Enders Shadow line of sequels. The Speaker for the Dead sequels are cool but they get a little philosophical for some people's tastes.

Orson Scott Card is a dope writer. I've never read a book from him that was bad. he has a few other series too. but i'd see if you like ender first.

other recommendations:
Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse 5. Psychedelic story of bombs over dresden

Salman Rushdie - Midnights Children. A generation of super powered children born at the dawn of the creation of India

Phillip K.Dick - A Scanner Darkly. the wire meets film noir, set in a dystopian future l

House Of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski is probably the coolest fiction novel ever.. in my opinion.

Highly recommended. Will not disappoint.

Malazan books are probably better than ASOIAF. Took me a while to get into them. The first book dives straight in and you're sort of left to catch up, once you do though it's so good. I agree with all of Art's recommendations. Stormlight archive is sick. Anything written by Brandon Sanderson is fantastic. Elantris is a great standalone novel.

Though I do think u should check out Blood Song. I can't remember the authors name but it's definitely up your street.

the Red Knight trilogy/Traitor Son cycle by Miles Cameron is fucking badass too

then you've got the Mark Lawrence books. they're all gritty af. Prince of Thorns. Jorg is ruthless

ehhhh what else, The Powder Mage series by Brian McClellan.

& right now im reading The Grim Company by Luke Scull. it's decent so far

Prince of thorns is a quick read. I didn't like it all that much. The wheel of time books are vastly overrated IMO too, it was a shit load of build up for an obvious climax. The fight scenes are pretty cool but its a let down, even the ones Sanderson wrote.

The black company by glen cook is really good tho.

Rec: if you like memoirs, there's this mega-badass book called "Fate is the Hunter" by Ernest K. Gann about the early days of flight. fucking dope, nicely paced, interesting & you learn a lot about aerospace shit. great descriptions too

it's written somewhat like Name of The Wind. similar writing style; flowing, realistic characters, not overly descriptive, doesn't spend 5 pages describing a door

it's gritty enough bro. the fight scenes are sick

word i read the first two wheel of time books and stopped. so cliche and dragged out. you already know what's going to happen and it takes forever for the characters to catch up to you. i hate writing like that. traditional epic fantasy i suppose. it's transformed into the gritty shit now which is dope

but yea man Brandon Sanderson is probably one of my fav writers. he can't write a bad book

The blade itself n the whole first law trilogy r super dope man. I envy u. Read the books that come after the trilogy too they're just as good. Best served cold, the heroes, red country. They continue some of the characters stories.

The storm light archive is dope, the second book is loooong tho but worth the read.

@Orc u read Brent weeks the night angel trilogy?
