My Hometown

Before I post I'd just like to say, it's good to have the forum back. Here's my latest piece.


It was never a conditionless human existence,
In this state that we live in just as races of misfits,
A species that prays and elates with a vision,
Shapeshiftin’, all just wearin a face to fit in.

We make the best of our fates, this life is a witness,
To the fights on the face of this planet that’s driftin.
Tunnel vision puts us all under this numbers decision;
The more money we’re liftin, the more love that we’re given.

But I’m hungry for wisdom, not the power that’s driven us down,
Crawlin’ with hounds, pillagin’, willing to bring us to ground,
I’m willin’ to drown rather than givin’ me out,
To the killers and clowns that envisage the horrors we’ve found.

This blood is thick, and I’m hemorrhaging freely,
My heart does not leave me for an Earth that is bleeding.
I’d rather blind myself of this conscious disdain,
And turn my thoughts to this hometown world that’s covered in pain.

I've seen mothers refrain from her lover hit her again,
I've seen daughters molded into raucousness, coldness and pain,
I've seen brothers bite the bullet, spiting the woman he loved,
And fathers, not dads, only ever speaking to judge.

I've seen times where I cried astute to the hell, the desolation,
The voices of Elysium calling me back to elation,
Shangri-La, Utopia, heaven, we're under,
Zion is attainable, is the present the juncture?

I'm tried of the cries of the billions of souls,
Tortured with demons and punctured with holes,
Lumped in with statistics and roped into prisons,
In open land they see horizons, but are blind to this vision.

And sometimes I’m known to fly roaming into turbulent moments,
Breaking an onus, and owing this soul, if only as forfeit,
I’m immersed with the moments when I don't mind it or know that:
Hate enslaves the mind in idleness only to own it.

But a place in paradise aint applied and approved,
It's given rightly to the muses plying the life that they should.
So while you confuse piety, rules, rights and religion,
I'll be mainly unrestricted and gratefully under-dismissive.

I’m under a mission to come to some wisdom, I take it,
I’m a mind made on this Earth, and I aint willing to break it.
So I wanna know now, every time the hate strikes,
Seventy times seven .... till the Hades comes for this life.

This was a really good drop! I liked how you were able to express your pain while showing how much you still try to seek joy despite the heartbreak. I'm guessin you might of had it kind of rough growin up? I grew up alot of my life in Harlem. And so many of the things you listed I can either relate to or know someone that can relate to. But as I was sayin, you displayed good imagery throughout your post and it was in my opinion very enjoyable to read. You had plenty of good metaphors and I thought it had plenty of structure as well. Keep up the writing, and I'm sure you may end up hearing from me again at some point. Good drop!

this was crazy...felt real and not just cheap talk. good balance of flow and sense...lots of reflection, was hoping for a tone shift of some sort but that is being picky.
