She lived through the wars, sweated and toiled in the fields Held a dozen grandchildren, forged a will stronger than steel Every year brought another challenge, poverty ran rampant Searching for food like scavenger hunts but her spirits never dampened All her children grew to marry, happy days could last forever Lost in the sands of time and a sudden change of weather Revolution was coming and the future waits for no man Each passing day turned her home's freedoms into nomads After the red flag was lifted many bodies were dropped Down into shallow graves, unmarked burial plots You'd think her heart would burst after her first child disappeared Down the rabbit hole of grief to a wonderland of worst fears Even though her life was hardship and her steps were growing heavy After all the Commie nightmare her iron will remained steady Don't you think it's damn time she had some rest already??
