Default Roughing The Passer

First off, the new rules for roughing the passer are idiotic, but the actual calls are correct and the refs can’t not call it by the rules. Don’t blame the refs, guys.

That being said, it’s like flagtag. Clay Matthews’ can’t really do anything else in that situation. Out of the 3 plays I’ve seen in the first three games Clay had a dirty hit once. Against Washington there was nothing he could do but make that tackle like he made it.

Buttt........

GreenBay fans should be the last people to complain. If there’s any one reason those rules were put there, it was Aaron Rodgers breaking his collarbone.

the only problem i have is i witness the same exact hit happening in other games not get flagged

while by the new rules they could technically call it, they don't 90 percent of the time.

same with the helmet rule. they went crazy in the preseason, but thats the problem, literally 75 percent of tackles the defender "leads" with the helmet. so its just a discretionary call

with these new discretionary calls, and the movement to legalize gambling, its gonna get tricky

its gonna be like the NBA. refs will decide when to pull the reins back and when to let shit go

ALSO I ALMOST FORGOT

THAT WOMAN REF IS THE FUCKING WORST.

As far as I understood at the pro level, leading with the helmet isn't the issue. It's when leading with the helmet results in helmet to helmet contact - if seen is called.

So a defender can lead with his helmet as long as it doesn't result in helmet to helmet contact - same with runner when they brace for impact. They can also lead for the brace as long as it doesn't result in helmet to helmet contact.

That's just my interpretation of it. Youth football encourages heads up tacking and no leading, PERIOD. Leading with helmet at the youth level will get the kid ejected and suspended 1 game on 1st offense.

the nfl changed the rule this year, after ho-ass shazier went and paralyzed himself.

NO one can lead with the helmet anymore, to any part of any other player. if the helmet makes contact they can throw the flag. they dont though, because it happens at least 4-5 times each play between the linemen, let alone the ball carrier.

but word its to protect the defenders, they don't want them leading with the crown of the helmet anywhere, it used to only be helmet to helmet, but now it can be helmet to knee, they are within the rules to flag it

they did alot of it in the preseason, but i havent seen much in the regular season.

Crazy.

It's football man. I'm reading that they are looking to ban youth football till at minimum the child reaches high school.

So only will 9th grade and up be eligible to play the sport.
