Is this correct? And if so, what is your level of familiarity with Reconstruction, the Jim Crow era, Dixiecrats and the Civil Rights movement, Reaganomics and the Crack Epidemic, etc? Again, honest questions because I think there is a learning opportunity here.

I'd like to be clear that my references to those things do not preclude your conclusion and I understand that they were in the past.

black people have a lot of disadvantages in modern day society and it is a symptom of decades of targeted policies including law enforcement, real estate, gerrymandering, mandatory minimums, bail, school funding, obviously the war on drugs, etc. and it is not a coincidence that the people that disagree usually live the type of life uh-oh lives(staying in one concentrated area, no extended experiences trying to understand minority perspectives). a lot of it is socioeconomic, which if you remove empathy and understanding you can attempt to blame on individuals, which is what apparently gets uh-oh's dick hard at all times. but a substantial amount of the social inequalities are still because of the image media has portrayed concerning skin color for the last couple decades which is why it's so disgustingly unfair for things to still be as regressive as it is in 2018 for minorities in a lot of situations especially post-trump.

old lady in kuaui put it like this for me; if you've never taken a flight anywhere in your lifetime, and all you've ever seen about planes on the news is footage and stories of the ones that crash, you are going to think they're dangerous. i think this rings true for a high majority of the uniformly white areas of america. i think this is why cops shoot first around minorities.

but it is true that letting that mentality engulf your actions through out life will often times turn out counterproductive, as metts said. although the mentality is for good reason, and those reasons are true. like diode said.

have we really tried defeating hate with overwhelming love? is there any practical way to make this work in current society. why can't an influential hip hop artist show unconditional love to a person in the most powerful position in america despite them being surrounded by people that are presumably racist at some level(or high levels). does this have to make him an uncle tom or can it do more by showing that minorities won't allow themselves to be effected negatively by racists. have we seen accidental courtesy? i know it's a controversial approach, which street activists don't take kindly to for good reason. but effectiveness is effectiveness regardless. and i think daryl davis in his micro contributions is as important as what street activists have been doing and unfortunately in the last decade what street activists do has been less effective because of numbers & stamina but also because the law makers in this country just don't at all give a shit about empathy. especially regarding minorities. they don't even give a shit about kids learning. about schools being funded. or any basic shit we all think would be something to consider in legislation. but face to face dialogue has a much better chance of creating empathy and understanding in the oppressors. and that's why i like what kanye is doing.
