Default tax season has never been good to da god

all the years i was poor making 15-22k i never got shit back because i was a single filing male with 0 dependents

now im living good and i'm going to end up owing money

for some reason i deluded myself into thinking i was gonna get a few grand back

but that was based on nothing but the flawed logic of an imbecile

im only gonna owe 1200. so basically im working for free for a week and a half or some shit.

good luck to my NCG's on their efforts in getting the money they worked for back. and good luck to those who reap the rewards of others labor as well. get it where you can

i just wish trump would hurry up and fulfill the liberals fairy tales and burn it to the ground

im not sure you guys are following the logic

im not poor lol. i owe money because i made too much. last year i paid 22, this year was 41.

i don't know if i have to change how i'm filing at work to have more money taken out? or if i'm just now in a higher tax bracket so i don't get money back and i end up owing?

or a combination

but yea i don't see what this has to do with trump lol, i brought him up in my anti government way, in hopes that he fulfills the worldview the left employs, and that he destroys the government in general. not so he helps the working class?

i shouldve known the trump word would trigger this response though lol

in reality this was a thinly veiled brag thread because im doing well, combined with a wondering how the rest of you fare this tax season

Your only gonna get money back uf u claim 0. Anything else is conaidered an exemption ans you owe on because they gave you that all year. So it kinda works in reverse. Same shit happened to me i just got around to paying that shit off.

I swear to God the tax stuff you guys have to do every year is made difficult on purpose so most people have to pay something back, at least that's what it seems like as an outsider. It can be difficult here in Norway as well, a friend of mine had to pay 3700$ back one year but that's only because he forgot to raise his monthly % of tax to 40% instead of 36% when he got a raise which is fairly easy to do if you just remember to do it once you expect to earn more than your usual salary.

I'm wondering tho. Is this something you do once a year? Is there any online calculators to help you out? Do some workplaces do this for you at all, or are you expected to do it on your own? Is it difficult to get it right every year and is it something that takes a whole day to go through? From what I've seen from media and movies it seems like a huge hassle compared to here but I might be wrong.

it depends on how crazy you get with it. like if you try to deduct and write off a ton of things, itemize it or whatever

its stupidly simple though for someone like me who isn't eligible to deduct anything really.

i just use turbotax, a website that just asks you step by step, what number is in box a, etc. you just fill it out, pay them 35 bucks and they file it for you.

you can file federal taxes and state through them.

but since i moved to smalltown usa i can't do my city/local taxes online which is wack. that i'll have to do manually or whatever through the mail and SUCH. it sucks that my job is in a lower taxed area, i think its like 1.5 percent, but where i'm now is like 3 or 4 or something ridiculous. so i'll definitely have to come out of pocket there too

but the roads are nice here so i don't feel as bad lol

lmao uh-oh is a grunt left to his own devices pretty much

most actual non-labour jobs have an HR department that will handle that shit for you and give you a P60 at the end of the financial year with a breakdown on what you were paid/what you paid in taxes/how much is owed eitherway

Aaaah, I see. So, moving from one state (or city) to another can fuck up the numbers a bit so you may have to file it manually depending on where you moved to and your workplace. It makes a lot more sense now and it doesn't seem so convoluted anymore. I guess it's better to have it like that than not have state to state legislation etc.

Still seems rather difficult tho. I'm 29 and have basically never filed any taxes despite being part owner of a company. I've also only owed taxes once because I thought I could get away with paying 32% instead of 34% when I moved back to my old town 9 years ago, so I went by the tax agency and reported that I wanted to pay 32% of all income which was a mistake on my part. But that's basically everything we have to do, everything else is done by your workplace. It's when you start owning shit like a car, a home or whatever you need to be a bit more careful but even that is pretty much straight forward; you just write up what you own and pay for yearly and the tax agency gathers it all and takes care of the rest. It's done in an hour.

there are state taxes and federal taxes

taxes are as easy or as difficult as you want them to be tho

honestly if u cant manage turbo tax website because youre either stupid or your write offs and dependencies are too complex you can just pay an accountant or a tax filing company like H & R block and they will just figure it out for u

its not difficult

I had to switch mine up so that they took out more. I also file 0 dependents. I get paid weekly and basically get 500 taken out per week. Usually end up getting like a g back.

The goal is to owe nothing and get nothing back
Getting money back feels nice but it just means you’ve been giving the govt an interest-free loan for a year
