this person was not "involved directly" though, he made a meme that the president found and reposted on his own. trump didn't credit him. cnn tracked down a random shitposter, went the extra mile to find out who was behind the avatar, and coerce a public apology in exchange for not releasing his information to the rabid trump hating wolves

its strange times when the president posts a meme in the first place, let alone a meme of him at wrestlemania clotheslining a gif of a news organization lmao

but to go after some random dude on the net for making it in the first place, when he had no intention of the president using it, and no intention of creating the false narrative of encouraging assault on the media is shitty. pure and simple.
