That isn't actually what black Irish means.

It refers to people with darker complexions, darker hair, darker eyes, than the 'original' Irish who typically are paler...Black Irish are basically Mediterranean type folk, mainly Spanish, who came over in the Armada, crashing off the shores and settling on land, mainly on the West Coast, I am black Irish, my Spanish ancestors crashed off the coast of Galway and settled there.
