As far as I know, none of the films are canon because they weren't written in the Manga. The reason Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, & Dragon Ball Super are considered 'canon' is because the anime is "based" off the Manga (There's a few things that differ that most people don't care about unless you're really that into it) Now, the movies that recently came out, Battle of Gods / Resurrection F, that's a tricky situation. Those movies came out before any Manga was written. I read somewhere that he just made those because he was so salty how they did the live version of the Dragon Ball movie. Anyways, after those movies dropped, Akira decided to continue the Manga loosely based on those 2 movies, and then the anime started getting put out simultaneously. I think this might be one of the rare times the anime is ahead of the manga. But yeah, this whole, "it isn't canon though" shit is for the birds. It's either good or not. I never got into reading that stuff, but the movies / tv shows are pretty dope to me. |
