Cyber Bullying on Netcees : SUICIDE

[Objective]

Someone who was bullied quite a bit and ridiculed on a Norwegian hiphop forum offed themselves due to other issues in life. Shit you said still makes you wonder if it had a part in what lead to the person taking that decision tho'. Only legal ramifications was that the site had to open up registration for everyone (when you registered, you were in automatically) and make the entire board visible for everyone (except for the mod section). If the administration didn't put forth those changes a higher power would close down the site. I don't remember if the new regulations for the forum was forced due to what happened to the person after she died, or if it was because someone from the site had made a fake facebook profile so they could befriend girls with closed profiles etc. to rate them from 1-10 coupled with extremely dark humor, it even reached the news. (Source: http://www.kjendis.no/2009/11/09/kje...ilder/8956966/) There was also a similar thread to find the ugliest, most stupid people on facebook with persons outside of the community who was ridiculed to hell.

Beside of that there were some talks about what happened, if what had been said there along with trolling her blog was part of pushing it and things like that, but it went on as normal for the most part. It made a lot of people feel bad for what they had said, but the harsh and brutal sarcasm against certain members still continued.

There's no real laws to protect against online harassment due to ''freedom of speech'', but I'd still be cautious about going in detail with jokes on how a certain person should kill themselves. If the suicide is done in the way someone said they should do it and the case was investigated and they came upon that comment I guess they'd try to track down the member as it's easier to build a case from that. Just saying ''you should kill yourself'' probably wouldn't hold in court. Seeing how most people on here give two fucks about privacy and posts pictures and don't use proxies etc. it shouldn't be too hard to find out who you are. And if that someone was a sorry fuck and had taken some random pictures and used them as their own they'd might face identity theft charges as well if the real person chooses to sue.

That said, some of you fucks go a bit far sometimes. The shit that was said about Beyond and his friend was fucked up. I don't care if you'd get away with it legally or not, shit ain't right unless it's on some He whose name shall not be spoken-level. Fuck that guy.

If brought to court Namix (the owner) might face some charges too.
