That's because those are alpha traits and what women find attractive in men.

Few things here with this thread, though:

1.) Book smarts aren't the only kind of smarts that exist. There are many forms of intelligence, a lot of which get you much further in life than book smarts. Book smarts are overrated. Social intelligence is the undisputed champion right now. Being able to influence people and build long lasting relationships/networking with various important figures or those that can get you further in life is much more essential than being able to score a little higher on a test or have slightly more off-hand knowledge about something.

2.) Two dumb people don't always make dumb offspring. Dumb people can have smart kids and smart people can have dumb kids. Another thing to consider is that perhaps the dumb people weren't that dumb after all and just didn't focus enough. Whether it be lack of care or not, who knows. It's even debatable whether not caring or not trying is dumb in that of itself.
