Long Beach is actually not that bad. If I am not mistaken I believe you have to pay to get in as well. If you tan at all, any beach is good enough. But to swim, living here since forever, I'd dip my toes in long beach, Jones and a fee other private beaches in long island. I don't swim. I'd only legit dip toes.
