Yes. Once you catch onto the rhythm of the writing it's easier to flow with it and decipher the humor. In that sense it's a fun read. In the sense that it is overwhelmingly long with stretches of unintelligible meandering, it is not a fun read lol.

I'm with you wholeheartedly on the brontes, can't stand them.
Joyce was innovative and insightful, just difficult to penetrate and at times incomprehensible. Portrait of the Artist is an awesome book.
