Everyone is Anything

The army of blue shirts gather, eyes picking me apart
"I'm your new boss, William, I know that we'll go far
I heard what Darryl did, but I'm a different guy
Scratch your back, you scratch mine, and we'll all be fine"
Applause that's mandatory, my cause is to win them over
These abused pets I have rescued, we're in this cage together
"Alright, go back to work, it's a fresh start for us now!"
They don't share my excitement, that's okay, they'll come around
Running a toy store is easy, if you treat your people right
Good pay and fair treatment disarms the claws of spite
Some days I might bring coffee to give my guys a lift
More of a best friend than a boss, I happily cover shifts

One month later

Business is pretty good, though our numbers have dropped a bit
But a little encouragement will easily right this ship
"If you all could smile some more, while at the front of the store
And I know that we're all busy, but customer's can't be ignored
I appreciate your hard work, you're all doing just fine
These are just a few things that I hope you keep in mind"
I'm not sure why they're laughing, but it's good for the soul
And now they know what not to do, everything's under control

I turn and see Joyce ignoring a child asking a question....

Three months later

"Fuck out of my office, bitch, enough of your shit!"
Cross Mike off the employment list and that's one less prick
Bloodsuckers, all of em, just slurping this business dry
I tried to be nice, I find that it was a waste of my time
They pushed me to the edge, so it'd be rude if I don't jump
Instead of fist bumps, it's fisticuffs if they don't show enough
Initiative to do their damn jobs right without me down their throats
I got cameras at every angle, watching these dogs from my throne
'All I see is dollar signs' so if a single customer frowns
I will Chris Brown these fuckers and send them on their way out
Cheap labor is easy to find, everyone needs to make a buck
Doors will open or shut depending on if they work hard enough
I'm not a bad guy, just a guy trying to get his job done
I maintain the order and stay profitable, forget about fun
