The editing rule allows edits until the extension deadline.

I still don't get the sequence you're describing. Last night (when?) you signed on to request an extension (when?) and had your post rejected (how?).

You were not logged in for eight hours leading up to the deadline. I checked. So what happened?

uhh i definitely posted last night @ ~11:30p or so an hour before i left the sushi place. thread was already up on my phone browser because i knew i was going out but not sure for how long and wanted to make sure i didn't forget to make the ext request if it was going to be late. i typed ext in the quick reply box and hit the quick reply button.
