Yeah, I can respect someone for writing well. That's cool.
If I don't enjoy what they write they're not good to me. It's not shallow. It's just not good to me. There isn't some list of writers above reproach. If I was completely sober I could articulate this better. 'Scholars' suck too, for the most part. Most people suck. So do their opinions. Scholars and their general opinion are no different.
