If you like dressing up then find a cosplay area and have fun ... Kids play dress up all the time they don't need a day to be allowed to use their imagination.

In my area as a kid children where always coming up missing or hurt on Halloween. .. In PA at least the area I'm in they do Halloween on different days in different areas to maintain safety and have cops around to closely watch drivers speeds etc etc ... It's like Jewish Halloween it lasts 8 days and if your smart you can get mad candy lol ... Hanukalloween

Last year i actually told one of my buddies that ive decided halloween to christmas will now be encumbered in my "happy holidays" greetings. New years eve/ day is by farrrrrr my least favorite holiday....of ever. Shit is amature nite. I gotta stumble over susan from accounting who only goes out one time a year.....new years....an clean her alcohol poisoned puke off my fresh grey woven pea coat while she bkeeds out on the pavement after tripping over the curb in her way to bar #13 just to be turned down at the door for being shitfaced ANYWAYS. Son i drink in the professional league of gentleman whi enjoy drinking with other gentleman and sometimes sum hoes...if they kno theyre fuckin place, stfu and fuck. I mean....cmon.....whens the last time the NFL or NBA had casual day and let average joes just run out on the court/field an play with the big dogs? NEVER. Fuck u new years eve. Im an adult.

Nah I know, if I thought people would attend, I'd throw costume parties semi regularly. One time a year is fine for me though. Plus I like the whole ghouls and ghosts and vampires, but also the humorous costumes.

But I mean overall EVERY holiday in this country is a consumer holiday in one way or another.

Thanksgiving - you gotta go all out on the big ass feast
Christmas - the gifts
Valentines - the gifts, the night out, etc
Easter - the candy and/or gifts sometimes
Veteran's, Memorial, 4th of July - all the cook out holidays.. they're sellin you grills and all the accessory plus of course the cost of the cookout
NYE, St. Patties, Cinco - blow all your money at the bars on overpriced drinks
Then all the other holidays, like President's day and anything else (even MLK day) every store throws a big sale since they know you're home from work.

Granted they all have a meaning, but literally every holiday has been monetized somehow. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy them.

But I've always been a to each their own sorta guy, I'm not trynna break your balls here for not liking it.

I only read the OP but Halloween gets fun again when you have kids that trick or treat. I demolish their candy while they sleep. I free myself of guilt by telling myself its bad for their teeth.

I trick or treated as a kid... Not traumatic exp at all ... I attended costumes parties and banged chicks who wanted to be slutty punky Brewster, slutty nurse, slutty Marge Simpson, slutty hermione grainger, slutty zombie and slutty slut

I just think it's a throw away holiday, it has a meaning but it's not even close to being celebrated as if we are remembering any departed or helping recently deceased souls make the transition to heaven whatsoever... Ask a kid what Halloween means, they don't know... They just want to wear their Optimus prime costume and get some brand name candy and egg the houses next year of the herbs that give away healthy foods or off brand shit.

And I love seeing my daughter dressed up and happy and she is going trick or treating this year but not for long just to my parents cul-de-sac ... But I don't have to enjoy a holiday to enjoy my daughters happiness I just enjoy the latter everyday and one of those days happens to be a day I don't enjoy I'll just have fun with her while she enjoys it.

Bags I'm not trying to ruin your day, I hate New Year's Eve and national hangover day as well ... Best thing about jan 1st is sheetz has free coffee all day ... New Years resolutions Are Wack, a list of things you did bad the previous year and some how since the calendar rolled over a magical day you're going to change your habbits... Nigga please
