Once you get into the gameplay of both CoD and Battlefield it's completely different games man. Just because both games got team deathmatch doesn't mean it's the same fucking shit, hell, soccer and handball got two goals, different teams and a ball, shieeet, might as well call it the same fucking sport because just adding/changing/removing some minor stuff isn't enough! The way you speak it's like it's the same fucking shit b.
As it goes for your first post as well; you don't see people compare WoW to DotA 2, do you? I get your point, GTA V is going to be awesome and it's going to shit on Ghosts in terms of sales and we're all going to have nasty grins on our faces and laugh cuz IW and Treyarch took a huge dump on the FPS genre to show how well shit can sell, but someone that wants to buy a FPS Multiplayer game aint going to pick up GTA V. And someone that wants a more realistic and strategic approach to an FPS game and doesn't snort lighter gas on a daily basis isn't going to pick up Ghosts, it'll be Battlefield 4 and vice versa. It doesn't make any sense to say x is better than x when they're placed in two different genres.
I've played FPS on and off in clans since Soldier of Fortune 2 and the dawn of CS 1.6, even played Wolfenstein online for a little while. I'm a certified white fucking nerd whose definitely considered a no-lifer in some (if not most) circles, so believe me when I say the differences between Battlefield and CoD is huge as fuck once you get into it. And you, as a game developer yourself, should have enough insight to realize that fact and not base your entire knowledge on engines, you know it's the gameplay that counts. It's not the same fucking shit.
If your idea of the blueprint/concept is about killing the other team and that's all it takes for it to be the same game we're on the same page. But I don't agree with that. Same as I don't agree with Nascar the game 2013 isn't Gran Turismo 5 just because there's cars in it, graphics are decent in both games and you can race against your friends. And Chrono Trigger aint fucking Final Fantasy III or Pokemon Red. We've already established that shit; MPFPS IS MPFPS AND RPG IS RPG nah'mean? I agree with BF and CoD being MPFPS, but I don't fucking agree with BF and CoD being similar at all.
So yeah, that's it. I've said mine. If you disagree I guess we just have different opinions about this ish. Thanks for the debate tho'. :)

they sue different engines but the engines are identical. there the same game as i said. your example was fucking stupid because nascar and gran turismo is two different types of games and engines....there engines is nothing alike yet cod and battlefield is. your a battlefield fan boy, same way ima gta fan boy. so ur in here defended it cuz u dont want it to be like cod but it has a good bit of similiarities esp up until three they based there engines off of alot of other fps out there which is why they was never that big. they only just recently starting doing something major which is why there taking off and getting bigger then cod even one of the devs said it...... theres still similiarities man until they get a more indepth story they wont ever be top of the line, there tactical shit will always be beat by shit like mgs and there kill shit will alwyas be beat by shit like cod esp on sales. they need to break apart fromt he norm
people already playing part 4 has mixed reviews dude
