Not saying being drunk doesn’t mess up you reasoning. I’m turning 20 soon so I haven’t had a drink ever.

its the pre-tax thing tho
its like why not dump, but at the same time...idk

i've been in this delema b4 and always just get match

its like HSA in away...but i never used that sht so now i put like 150 in bc thats the min and the pre-tax thing kinda makes it a have to, but this is at least guaranteed

i also got to have all my previous shts rolled into this one now, which is time consuming = /

Huh? You get the company to match. A 401k is rather straight forward. Someone invest your money for you and you get tax incentives..

You lost me.

If you get a match on your 401k, just contribute enough to get the full company match, because it's free money.

Any contributions above that should go into a Roth IRA.

Unless you're contributing 10K or above for the year, the up front tax break you get in the traditional 401k won't be close to the benefit you get in the Roth where all growth and distributions are tax free.

I did exactly what Cashius is saying. Roth is a much more flexible/dynamic place to put your money, but make sure you get that 401k match (for me that was minimum 6%). Talk to whoever your 401k is with and see what your options are. Some jobs are way more straight forward than others.
