They have that whole Diane Young/Dying Young wordplay in that song. But that's not why I like it. The vocalization on that song is amazing. The 'baby, baby, baby' section is great, and the subsequent dubbed (is that the right word?) portion is great, and the BOOM! explosion of cool. I look at it as the true pop song of the record. I don't know, I'm drunk.

Maybe you're right. I think the best pop song on the record is "Ya Hey." But "Diane Young" was the lead single, so Vampire Weekend agrees with you. I also don't like much of their previous work. Definitely part of my dislike "Diane Young" is that it's so like old Vampire Weekend. I probably don't cut them a fair amount of slack on this. If 1990s Weezer had made an almost identical song, I'd probably be all about it.
