It's not about being on a high horse. I put "not cheating" on the same level of basic human decency as somethig like "not stealing"... "not being a deadbeat dad"... Etc... It's nothing to brag about, it's something to diss ppl who DO do it about.

And I agree that people who do usually either dont love their partner (and are too weak to either end the relationship or try to fix it), or they don't love themselves (as in have low self esteem and conquering other women makes them feel a little better about themselves)

There's a third category that's where people are usually near the start of a relationship and there's miscommunication about how serious they are about it, really one partner just wants to be hanging out and fucking but the assumption of exclusivity works it's way in there somehow... That's less despicable than the first 2 situations but still lame

If you are in a relationship you shouldnt be out looking for someone to smash and if you feel that you should be then don't be in a relationship.

It is a morale principle. All morals are completely subjective, though. I'm not saying I'm proud of what I did, I'm not, but it's what occurred. People can judge and cast whatever psychological or religious view they want. Fact is, no one moral code or overriding psychological principle can apply to the infinite permutations of human interaction. If you think that's the case, you're the fool, not the cheater. Again, if I could go back and not cheat, I would. But the basic instinct of man is flawed and although we all try our best to correct, sometimes it's an impossibility. Someone could counter that argument by saying it's an excuse or cop-out, but no one's perfect. I'm 100% confident every person in this thread who's bashed anyone who cheats has done something I would never do and I'd find reprehensible. This is really the definition of the high horse. Hope you guys feel righteous, but really we're all just the same type of person just with different coding for different kinds of faults.

Also religion will not help an argument. Only make it worse. Because as soon as it's introduced it supercedes every other rational argument. it's one thing to say you cheated and regret it, it's another thing to say you think cheating is perfectly OK. For me, when I was in college and had a gf back home, the long distance thing was sack and I was partying, doing a lot of drugs, etc etc. Not justifying cheating, but it's just what happened. I'm def not proud of it. That last year of college was a whirlwind of personal highs and lows, cheating being one of the many low points. That's the breaks. You learn, you mature, you adapt. Now I'm super direct and upfront with my girlfriend, and can honestly say I've never done any thing remotely shady with other females in the two years we've been dating. For that, I'm proud of myself. I don't think you know how to be a good person till you've been a piece of shit, but that's just me. I'd like to think my piece of shit days are behind me.
