With all due respect professionals go into overtime
the win by 2 is more traditional because its what most kids grew up o Making it a mainstay ideal when it comes to anything

Anyway, there's an even more logical reason behind not using a win-by-two rule: From this point forward, there will be official rankings determined by a specific formula. (Mike Wrecka has the details.) Matchups every week will be made based on those rankings. So until all battles are final, we can't move ahead. Therefore, ties will be settled, but otherwise battles need to be closed as quickly as possible. Otherwise we hold up the league because, unlike in Week 1, we simply cannot move on without knowing the results of every battle.
