yeah def not top 25. It's debatable whether or not he's even the best PG to come out of that draft.
Thing is, he's too one-dimensional to be great. He's the best pure scorer of his generation, but that's one facet of basketball. Props to his MVP and scoring titles, but that's about the end of his ledger when it comes to anything significant (ROTY isn't that big of a deal tbh). When he was playing, the eastern conference was the JV compared to the West, and he only managed one finals appearance. Compare that to Jason Kidd, who took an equally untalented team to the finals more than once, all the while not being a great scorer. AI was an individual talent, didn't make anyone around him better. That's the mark of a great player. Top 10 guard, possibly top 30 all time, but his career isn't impressive enough to warrant that upper-echelon of all time. |
