[dull boy]

I was a country boy; barefoot; running through the countryside.
Smile on my face, ’cause it was all about the fun in life.
Happy-go-lucky; plucky. Had his own puppy. Buddies
with the next door neighbors. A Rockwell painting
of a couple friends attached to the jungle gym out back.
Summers spent like Huckle Finn. For months on end we’d have
daily games of H-O-R-S-E on a faded, aging court.
Play-by-play reports by the players playing. Scores
kept in your head… The rain delayed no sport.
Tire-swings tied to trees where forts resided. These were norms
provided me. July; we’d treat the fourth to Hide-and-Seek and S’mores.
… lord. My wildest dreams couldn’t rival Springs I had before...
