Life imitates art, but art is a reflection of life
So I'll dance with this mirror and undress it tonight
Deflecting the light....protecting the dark
Poetry's impression in the depths of my heart
Confession...alarms...the ringing of truth
A cynic, aloof...but childlike and cautious
A mind like a marsh, defined by this harness
This cigarette smoke, the drunken haze
I run the maze of those younger days
Make Darryl Great Again...but was I ever great?
Was there ever a time when I never prayed for better days?
Maybe that's the pain...the facts, explained
Pass the blame to the past, that's the way
She taunts me, this hope, I see her in dreams
I see her in sunsets, I see her in streams
I see her tomorrow, but never today
Today I just remember....
I remember the fact that I'm forever afraid.
