the pain from external sources, EKG transmits rapid, steady beeps,
be-neath the hub-bub of conversation, " how severes the patients injuries? ",
" order some negative-O blood, no time for a cross-match ",
carted past the empty-waiting room, doc's opening the Trauma Ward latch,
cart-wheels sounded thunderous on the tile, reaching the threshold,
electronically controlled, emergency doors slapping open, damp summer air felt cold,
red lights from the ambulance strobed across metal and glass,
3 medics manuvered my gurney through the entry, door-panels slid fast,
doc noticed the patient was his same age, mid-to late twenties, dis-stressing,
doughy and ghastly pale skin, multitude of gashes and pressure dressings,
doc's words seeped through shouted orders, " definitly an explosion...,
...fragments to his chest, bio-engineered grenade, compressed implosion... ",
anesthesiologists inched the endotracheal tube backwards, brief impact,
followed by sharp pains, the jabbing of tubes between my ribs and lung sac,
blood gas results indicate a mild decrease in respitory functions,
" lab must have made a mistake, patient mix up, nurse stop compressions !...

...i awaken to the clank and whoosh of machinery,
and pain that racked my enitre body, instinctively,
i went still, searching my mind for some complete memory,
of how i got here, my own name layed far beyond re-collection,
sucked a lung-full of plastic air, still light-headed from re-surrection,
a mechanical flutter of low pitched sound accompinanied my efforts to come,
trying to exhale, but something jammed more into my already expanded lungs,
feeling of suffocation, then i tensed, before i could fight it, it disappeared,
" calm down, don't let the enemy know your awake ", i re-verred,
suprised, another blast of air was forced into my lungs, choking free,

myself, i attempted to fool my brain into thinking i wasn't alone,
amusing my mental by using various languages to micro-phones,
rememberance of violent hands dragging my corpse from the cell,
accented voices demanding information, was this mind-numbing creation hell?,
the pain of clubs and knives was a welcome release from imprisonment i contrived,
