cuz it's zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz so far. 4 eps in.

About halfway through season 1. Closer to season two. Love that show.

I agree that it's kinda slow paced at times. I just started watching this show a couple months ago or so myself and I appreciate the time they took on season 1 since you truly got to know everyone and their agendas. The characters and their personalities in this show is fucking remarkable (I'm at season 4 now.) They're going for a realistic approach and it wouldn't be very realistic if it was filled with lots of action and shit going on non-stop. Seems to me they're trying to cover all sides of the drug trade from the detectives and police departments way of handling it to the politics behind it, street dealers and people up the chain. And I think they're a fucking good job at it.
Then again I like slow paced series/movies and thought out plots. If you don't like shows that can be slow paced at times this might not be for you, but I'd advice you to watch the entirety of season 1 before you make an opinion.

I love the fuck out of it though.

I'm definitely watching it all but I don't see the hype yet. Seems like your average cop show except they kind of just jump into a plot made out of thin air

When you rewatch it, you'll appreciate how great the early episodes are. Season 4, though, is my favorite.

If True Detective manage to keep up the consistency it may be The Wire's equal, or even better imo. At least as far as crime shows go.

It's ruled out by its very template. The Wire is unprecedented in how interwoven everything is. The show created a city, in full, by the end. True Detective is a bunch of miniseries with a loose correlation.

The Wire is the greatest show ever. Even if it's not your favorite (and it might not be mine), it's the greatest accomplishment in television history.

I'm a diehard defender of Season 2.

It's not even worth your time here.

Since I haven't seen everything yet and I'm in the middle of Season 4 (love this season so far) I can't really say anything. But yeah, I loved Season 2 as well.

What's your favorite?

I bounce back and forth between putting 2 and 5 last in my order of which I like best. But they literally didn't have any bad seasons. I can just easily say that three, four and one are more exciting to me.

Breaking Bad took the entirety of the first season to really get going. I still haven't watched all of The Wire.

The wire gets good as soon as soon as McNulty asks homeboy why they always let snot boogie in the dice game if he just steals the money when the pot gets big and homeboy says 'This is America. You got too.'

yeah a good quite 5 minutes into the series doesn't make up for it being a seemingly random story and seemingly average cop drama. it's gotten better though

Seasons 3-5 Is the Best, Season 1 Is Classic and gets better towards the middle of the season, Season 2 Is a cool set up for the Next season but alot of slow moments. Overall the Wire is The Shit!
