Wow, just tried to read Amen's ignorant ass post.
Cowboys are literally the best example in recent years of their whole team (even defense) benefiting from a dominant line. Does no one remember Phil Costa? The 2-3 years that Romo had this dude at center we went 8-8 all 3 years. It wasn't until we reached Smith, Frederick, and Martin 3 out of 4 years till we went 12-4. While QB play killed the 15 season, the O-line was still dominant the second half of the season with McFadden being the #1 back. Dumb ass. |

In youth football, when coaching kids from the ages of 8 through 10. All you need is 7 seconds. After that the pocket usually crumbles and the QB roles out or gets sacked. But in those 7 seconds, my wide out flanker or split end knows their rout which AT MOST is 10 yards. The thing with youth football defense is, those 10 yards are tough, because the corners, and safties usually lines up 5 to 10 yards off the line of scrimmage. I know my defense they line up that way. Nose guard in the A gap of the strong side, 1 DT in the B gap, and my DE's outside shoulder of the last man on the O Line, with a Middle LIne backer, 2 outside line backers, one on the right and one on the left 3 yards off the line of scrimmage. My corners are 7 yards off the line of scrimmage with the weak side corners ALWAYS blitzing along with the weak size outside line backer and my safeties 10 yards off the line if scrimmage with my strong safety sovering the weak side line backers zone. So pass plays are a little difficult which is why youth football relies mostly on jets sweeps, buck sweeps and reverses. Lol @ half the idiots in here not knowing what they are talking about... Clearly, the O LINE'S MAIN JOB IS TO PROTECT THE QB and open HOLES FOR THE BACKS... Everything else is extra. But their PRIMARY JOB is what I've been saying all along. |

You guys are really idiots and don't know what your talking about. I am talking about how an O-LINE DIRECTLY AFFECTS other positions. The WIDE RECEIVERS ONE, yea, I can see that and acknowledge the stronger the O LINE IS - the better pass protections and more time for receivers to run effective routes but now how does the O LINE DIRECTLY AFFECT A DEFENSE? Other then ball control and keeping them off the field? DIRECTLY AFFECTS, once again. It's fucking obvious - ALL 11 PLAYERS ON THE FIELD ARE KEY ELEMENTS. I'm referring to how a position directly affects the next position. DIRECT. Morons. @uh oh the only one who's making any sense and discussing shit rather then trying to argue with me like a fucking dick rider. |

In my second year of midget football we only lost twice. Once in the season and once in the super bowl. Fucking vikings had our number.
We ran a pretty simple defense. We had 5 down linemen though i think. I just remember we only had 2 lbs one of which was me. Theyd kill us with simple off tackle runs. Their oline was dope, if it came to my side i would destroy the FB in the hole, the problem was the holes would be so huge it didnt matter. Our RB was a G and carried us. The type to run a sweep to the right, have nothing there but be fast enough to just say fuck it turn around and run all the way to the left lol. The vikings would swarm him though. Just a better coached team altogether, where as we were the faggots letting everyone play. Be ruthless amen. Dont play a kid just to play them and make their parents happy lol

I happen to coach YMCA flag football and I tell my kids that offensive lines aren't necessary to sustain a quality drive. If our quarterback can't play without an offensive line then he deserves to get his flag took.
