Default Week 8 - Certain vs. Mike Wrecka - CERTAIN WINS

Memo week 8.
At the end it is the time to look back to the beginning. REFLECTION WEEK, you are required to write incorporating all or none of the last 7 weeks of general memo topics. To refresh your memory here they are in descending order beginning with the present week.
WK 8 - REFLECTION WEEK
WK 7 - CONTINUOUS TASK WEEK
WK 6 - IMITATION WEEK
WK 5 -CONSTRAINED WRITING TASK WEEK
WK 4 -LEGAL LATIN WEEK
WK 3- HYPOTHETICAL COLLABORATION WEEK
WK 2 -DIVERSITY WEEK
WK 1- DOUBLE LETTER WEEK
To reiterate, the task requires you to incorporate all or none of the preceding weekly tasks. What format, what number, what emphasis you place on specific weeks, all aspects are all up to you. I only encourage ambition, this is the final week so unshackle. In keeping with the consideration from week 4, you can if you wish include 2 sentences of explanation along with your submission to showcase or highlight your concepts. Good luck competitors. There are no specific tasks this week, just this weekly memo.

Good Luck @Certain

Lost and Found

there was a husband and wife, starting out their life together,
got a home with a view, that would look nice forever,
filled with happiness, multiple children were on the way,
so they enjoyed the quiet time, when there was nothing to say,
then on an ordinary day, that's when tragedy hit,
and the family was damaged and savagely split,
the expecting mother died, as the would be father cried,
but misery turned to joy as he realized that one of the boys survived,
many years have passed, the single dad did his best to raise him,
but his overbearing and controlling nature made the boy more brazen,
had an appendage shorter than the other, his friends found it amazin,
cause it didn't slow him down, in the water he swam around just racin,
but one day while afloat, the boy was kidnapped by a man in a boat,
so his dad went into the ocean and searched until he lost hope,
these feelings of loss that he felt, were oh so tremendous,
cause he was once again losing what he found the most precious,
thats when he bumped into a woman, with an erased memory,
despite the alzheimers she remembered how to navigate in the sea,
so they searched together, facing a very many dangers,
and the dad dreamed of being reunited, eventually safer,

meanwhile......
the boy was taken ashore but he wasn't alone,
he was with a group of misfits that were taken from their home,
they had all they could take, so they planned an escape,
which was an achievement considering their mental and physical state,
and the plan had to work, the boys life was hanging by a thread,
his captor sent for an executioner, that would shake individuals until they were dead,
it was now or never, so at the very first sign of light,
the boy snuck away by maneuvering through a drain pipe,
he emerged right where his dad and the woman were searching at that moment in time,
and an overwhelming sense of euphoria replaced the hurting, sublime!
never give up is all that the dads strategy came down to,
he was ecstatic, smiled and said Nemo ive found you!/

a living reflection of ourselves is in our children. imagine you lost your reflection. you would stop at nothing until it was found

DOUBLE-LETTER CHALLENGE: S.E.

Skipped stones eventually sink, ending their flight
by forming a scummy enclave at the pit of a lake.
Sentenced to write, I came hoping for writs with a stake,
but venting was nice, so eventually my membership climbed
and I was listed with taste, known to dispense with a rhyme.
Servicing entrants with solicitated essays meant to oblige.

IMITATION CHALLENGE: Mike Wrecka

certain found netcees when an old itch returned,
and he quickly developed a rep for his flow-rich reworks,
it had been years since he last champed a topical league,
and these days he was probably better off giving logical feed
but that never was enough for a competitive chap,
so he entered the first tournament he found to better his rap/

DIVERSITY CHALLENGE: Bloggers

I'm an Internet nerd with a Tumblr, Twitter and Virb,
and I criticize words others pour into with vision and verve.
It's just my nature. It's not that I think I'm any better
but I know they're shit is the worst, so I say it with heavy letters.
It's logical, see, and my goal is pushing y'all to improve,
and I'm still hoping to get to one thousand followers, too.

CONSTRAINED WRITING TASK CHALLENGE: No letter O

It'd been three years since my last written raps when I came here,
and I'm glad to change gears and write when I drain beers.
My typing will stay clear. My grammar is perfect.
I'll never be the deepest or best, but I can hammer the surface.

HYPOTHETICAL COLLABORATION CHALLENGE: Genocide's "The State of Text"

I've rhymed with Fracture and Corey. Y'all new text rappers are boring.
Quit you're yapping, I'm snoring, dreaming about the past you're ignoring.
PancakeBrah? This faggot is whoring and leaving me laughing with stealth.
This dude's from oil country, but he's fucking gassing himself.
Above The Rest's a joke concept, but even if I felt it were true,
Namix is above everyone else in his crew.
And zygote, you dingo-fucking bitch with your shitty league —
actually, I've enjoyed the ride these challenges have given me.

LEGAL LATIN CHALLENGE: trial de novo (trial anew)

I come before you today to appeal to your senses.
Reread my battles with Rawn and Mike. Then reveal your penance.
See Rawn came with a shallow verse, while Mike didn't touch the topic.
Don't rush the logic: I should be in the title spot by this battle's turn.
Here's your chance for amends, though: I'm balling vs. Wrecka.
With a verse that's honest and provocative. It's called introspection.
So votes for Serpent seem certain, but things won't change in the nick of time,
since this league was rigged for Mike all along with his simple rhymes.

CONTINUOUS TASK CHALLENGE: When will you leave? Where are you going?

My membership's served with a time limit, for better or worse.
I've already tested my worth against the best on this Earth,
I hope I've shown you a thing or two, but I'm an editor first,
so this writing thing's simply me trying to stay invested in words.
And I'm about to be stressing with work, so I may disappear.
But I want to thank y'all for all your greatness in here.

Mike, I see what you did with the twist of movie and shit. But while reading I just kept thinnking how nothin was likely in real life again, I get its a cartoonn, but that don't change my feelings. In the end you borrowed a story, which could be fine but I'm not a fan. The rhymes were a bit simple IMO and nothing was too complex, just safe. I guess I can feed more, but what I'm saying is I didn't like it much. True talk, sorry for being dickish if I am so...

Certain, you used your own name too much. But I loved the introspection aspect, a peer into the soul and mind. An editor, lynguist and man who strives to be the best at what he does. @Certain serpent what name did you go by whilst battlingg fracture and corey?? I was around all those years myself. This topic actually brought me back the better days, before storrys became the norm which I'm not a fan of. I think all the verses I wrote this season safe the ant track, were written as a view in myself. I get that's not voter friendly, but you took it one step further and explaiined why you should be the champ. Dope concept all around, I was oriinally going to do the same thing and have 6 bars per week, then I got lazy rather procrastinated like an ass.

Vote certain

Better writting style to me

It is disappointing to see so few comments, hopefully some more votes are received, both of you have competed 100% throughout.

For MikeWrecka is this a rhyme format version of the animation movie? If so good effort, but it lacks a bit of ambition perhaps. It is a good comment to compare reflection/introspection to your children. As you state at the end there "a living reflection of ourselves is in our children" - must agree with that, although I can't personally relate to it. Overall, the payoff at the end felt too delayed, perhaps it would have been more effective to cut back the analogy/tribute to the childhood story and introduce this comparison of children to self-reflection idea earlier.

For Certain this was exactly the kind of conceptualization I was hoping to see in the final week. Some overarching self aware construction, the sum of its parts becoming greater than a whole or whatever. Individually, the small sections are short so they lack the effect when compared to your earlier submissions on the same topics, but together and when combined with the conversational and cynical writing tone it was just great. I enjoy the Legal Latin part thought it was the strong point, the constrained task had the word OR, but its really not important when compared to the idea behind it. The specific usernaming and shaming that occurred in the imitation task was well done as well. Voting for Certain.
