Part of cross examination is asking the same questions in different ways to see if you get conflicting answers. If he can’t remain poised during this then his temperament isn’t fit to be on the Supreme Court, imo.

This is a committee tasked with evaluating whether he’s fit for the job. It’s their job to judge this man. He’s been accused by a doctor who had hours prior given a credible statement claiming he 100% assaulted her. Maybe she’s lying. Maybe she’s confused... but what isn’t a camera trick or political gamesmanship is Kavanaugh’s reaction to direct yes or no questions. He was shifty. Unclear. He ran on and on about things unrelated to questions posed to him in order to filibuster his questioners allotted time. That’s not the temperament of a Supreme Court judge.

which he has claimed he is open to. realistically he's open to the fbi investigation, but he also knows it is all a ploy to push back his confirmation. so its a balancing act. he cant say he wants the fbi to investigate because it ruins his chance to gain the position he worked his whole career to attain

Ford mentioned Kavanaugh assaulting her to someone else for the first time in 2013. So this isn’t a ‘let’s get this guy Trump nominated’ situation for HER. She’s been saying this shit for years and came forward when she saw he was on Trump’s list of Supreme Court nominees.

That fucks up your argument of it being a political hit. Are democrats happy she came forward so Trump (hopefully) can’t appoint a Supreme Court Justice who believes presidents shouldn’t be able to be prosecuted? Of course they are. Did they manipulate this situation for their benefit? I wouldn’t doubt it... but you can’t say she’s some sort of democratic operative when she’s been naming Kavanaugh as sexually assaulting her for 5 years and to multiple people.

No one knows the truth, that's obvious. So it's a matter of interpretation. Aside from the manner of her testimony, which I found to be very credible and genuine, compulsion plays a big factor in which side is more logical to believe. Ford has PhD and a family. I would assume she lives comfortably as an upper middle class person; I dont know that for a fact but it's an easy assumption. So why would she disrupt that fine life to be thrust into the most partisan and vitriolic political climate in recent memory? She's a 51 year old woman with a settled life, she's not trying to get meme famous off of a rape accusation. There's no compulsion for her to speak except if it's a truth she feels must be brought to light. Kavanaugh was just as vehement in his denial, but he is absolutely compelled to do so for reasons outside of truth. So knowing nothing, I tend to believe Ford more than I do Kavanaugh.

The truth is completely irrelevant, though. This is just a matter of vote counts and majorities. There is absolutely no way to confirm Ford's accusation or Kavanaugh's denial so no real, concrete swaying of party line votes based on decency will come to fruition. It's completely ugly on both sides, just like everything is now. The Right gives not one shit if it's true or not. If Senate Republicans were shown tape of the incident behind closed doors they'd still vote yes. And the left obviously used this as political fodder as 1) petty revenge for Garland and 2) delaying for mid terms. I vote Democrat but its pretty heinous how the left used what I believe is a credible sexual assault accusation as an instrument, and did so so brazenly. People are captivated and debating the incident but it's just the latest MacGuffin
