And yeah light between oceans was good, starts off slow and builds up towards the end. It was a solid read tbh. I don’t know if you will agree with the overal fell of the book, but it’s definitely worth a read. |

Just finished.
I liked everything leading up to the last 2 people. Felt like those where the climax of the story but it felt lackluster. Like their wasn’t enough meat in those bones lol. But all in all good read. |

oh word thats dope. ive only checked a couple of his lectures, they were the ones where he focused on bible shit and why the underlying messages and shit resonate. but i've only made it like a half hour into each. if i see one i'll throw it on and fall asleep to it lol
im not sure if the book would be good i dig the guy though from his conversations with people but yea the lecture stuff kind of just does me in, in general. i listen to lectures on antiquity and all that shit too but its mainly to pass out, but yea im not sure if the maps of meaning stuff is all that great, the biblical stuff might be some of those though also i download alot of podcasts that are in .m4a which i think is that mp4 format for iphones. if you download them on a computer, and try to drag and drop them to your phone, it will prompt you to convert them and do it for you. like its built into windows on your computer or whatever i think. but i also use my old phone (note 4) as my mp3 player. it might be the phone i dunno, but i know i can't drag and drop with my new phone its wack and has protections and shit built in. lg g6

yea I download actually from my phone so nothing to transfer ha
but word so this guy is cool and at first was thinking wtf is uh oh listening to social psychology shit for but then the plot was revealed......hes an evolutionary phsychologist...well atleast that's what hes touching now.....he seems to be touching on a wide breadth of psychological studies.....I dig him....he really does jump from subject to subject tho sometimes its exhausting......maybe its because hes lecturing an actual class on these tho |

Jordan Peterson, while I don't know a lot about him, I saw a few clips and he does seem like the typical "thought leader" that speaks to something relevant in the news or our culture.
The last book I read was by former U.S. Civil Rights Commission chairman Mary Frances Berry who's also a historian and wrote a recent book for Beacon Press that's coming out in March entitled "History Teaches Us To Resist" and it's a history of social protest movements from the FDR administration to the Bush administration. Pretty well researched stuff, and the author was involved in nearly every major protest movement too, from marching with Coretta Scott King to the Free South Africa movement and via Wikipedia: "In 1984, Berry co-founded the Free South Africa Movement, dedicated to the abolition of apartheid in South Africa. She was one of three prominent Americans arrested at the South African Embassy in Washington the day before Thanksgiving; the timing was deliberate to ensure maximum news exposure." I also recently skimmed through (didn't read fully) Through the Day, through the Night: A Flemish Belgian Boyhood and World War by Jan Vansina who was one of the major anthropologists of the last century, who was a polymath and apparently could speak like 15 languages - someone who was a PhD student under him told me he literally knew everything. The next book I want to read is The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein. But we'll see what happens, I've been busy with work lately. |

Astrology shit. How our environment, date of birth and location have a lot to do with our persona/character... And how we should embrace our persona/character to accomplish certain things in life. Also goes in to where we COULD end up in life should we embrace our inner characteristics...
Basically the type of person you are by design, how to build yourself and make yourself a better person and the impact your type has on society. Shits interesting. |
