Adventures of an icelander: Renaissance fair in PA fun?
Are they any fun? Seeing grown old ass men swinging fake swords and riding horses. Whilst speaking in the lingo of the Shaketh-spear? A young Mademoiselle, i had the pleasure of meeting in the tutoring center asked if i have ever been and if i'd be interested in going.
She said they'll be having a viking themed event. Im extremely proud of my fathers lineage and my homeland. I thought it'd be cool to peruse and see if its at all accurate about my people. Took me for a surprise that she was into that stuff. I guess you truly can't judge books by their cover. I guess her Uncle is part of the committee that runs it.

Are you serious?
The Renn fair is fun as fuck. You can drink Mead, throw axes, and walk around and take in all the hot nerd chicks walking around in medieval outfits. All while eating a giant turkey leg. The items you can buy are a little expensive...but you can buy a hollowed out horn and use it to drink your choice of alcohol from. Last time I went to one I got separated from the group. So I bought 3 roses and used them to get information on how to get to the event everyone else was at. Madd bitches. P.S. A majority of the swords are not fake.

It may just be an east central PA thing but I knew people who went yearly, mostly through an ex
The one time I went I got drunk and bought a pewter stein... I think I referred to the vendor as a gypsy. Only other details I remember are jousting matches, choreographed fights, and people in crazy outfits |

Have never been to one, or have a desire to go to one. I can only imagine people acting like Jim Carry did in the movie Cable Guy at medieval times.

I feel like long as you're with the right people, it can be fun. I pretty much just hung out and drank with the only other dude who didn't dress up in our little group. Definitely an experience |

@Sharp - I went to some vegan festival and was looked at as a monster for adding chicken to my Cesar salad wrap with avocado.
Now - why would they have chicken as an option at a VEGAN festival? But I'm the monster for looking at everyone while eating it and toasting a piece of chicken on my fork to the crowd lol. |

For real though, I always find it hilarious when someone feels the need to show off eating meat in front of vegetarians
If you're looking at the crowd toasting a piece of chicken, that's probably the first reason. I know some dumbass vegans/vegetarians but it's not like we wander around hoisting a fennel sprig to the masses, looking for a reaction I'm glad you were the most proud of your lunch |

Lolllllllllllllllllll
I'm an asshole, what can I say. However, I found it odd that a vegan convention would have chicken on a menu. When I ordered; I even asked was it like some vegan vegetable substitute for chicken or real chicken... Lady said, no; it's real chicken lol... And I laughed. Reason for the toast was, lady behind me was making all kinds of side remarks when I ordered it so I felt the need to rebuttal towards her and her faggot vegan husband. Vegetarians eat poultry & fish, no? I thought they just didn't consume red meats? Or am I confusing that with something else? |

Let's be fair. You went to a vegan food festival and ordered chicken. That's like going to a Thai food festival and stopping at a nearby Domino's for lunch... Why? You might as well go a little out of your box and try the seitan while its right in front of you
