no one will work a job that does not provide them a living. the instances of it you see today are because the government holds their hand as well. it all ties together.

someone can work a shit job, on minimum wage in a part of america where the minimum wage doesn't cover the cost of living, because they will be within the bracket to be eligible for government assistance. so with that shit job, and the government assistance, they meet their costs of living. if the government didn't step in, that company would be forced to pay their employees an agreeable wage, or else they would have no employees. it wouldn't be the government forcing them to pay people what they deserve, but the marketplace itself.
