The two stood as brothers, both biblical men,
who viewed one another as pillars of strength.
The bigger of them adopted a fatherly role
with the intention of guarding them both.
Harbouring hopes in the passing of the torch
But began starting to show more anger than before
The schismatics would perform true marx of a beast
Proving the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree
One farmed in the region, yielding its sheaves of wheat,
the other marshalled his sheep to fleece them repeatedly.
Their hardened ideologies would change their paths for now
as the garden of eden they shared became a battleground.
Heinous as it sounds it was coming to pass
As Cain enables casting clouds of doubt to scupper his plans
Knocking down the doors of insanity and his harmonious links
Feeling a sudden detachment and becoming slowly unhinged
They were always close to the brink, so fraught in their friendship
that both were as guilty to the point they bordered obsessive.
They swore to keep relative distance ‘til their lives mortal end
but allies caused them to separate and divide former friends.
Despite all the evidence having favoured the latter
He triumphantly led the charge whilst waving the banners
But the elder statesman had flattered to deceive his predecessors
So on the day of the Sabbath he increased the pressure
The lead aggressor grew red faced, striking quick to silence him
and squeeze the neck of his sibling in the mighty grip of his iron fist.
Tightening the strangle hold choked him of courage at last
while writing history, with his brothers blood on his hands.
Now cometh the man, along with the ticking hours
Hes stuck to his plan and his edicts are louder
His glass ceiling flounders as he begins to urgently press
Its as if the hourglass is about to turn on its head
The merciless megalomaniac took matters in his hands
by turning his very brother into a sacrificial lamb.
Yet ambushing his ancestor would come at a cost
as he hadn’t seemed to factor in the judgement of God!
Believing nothing could stop him and his ancestry
Adam and Eve's pummelling offsprings had a fallacy
Yet he summoned the lot, even with the blood of his comrades on the battlefield, there's no plans to flee
In war he symbolically attacks the regions despite the anguished pleas
But with many stumbling blocks he becomes reactionary and the cracks appear
The foundations weakened in the ancestral path he sieged
Soon the family tree descends into some disgruntled sinners
As every branch and leaf detachs in these months of winter
Who’s adjudged the victor depends on which side you fought
but no one becomes a winner in such a time as war.
When battle lines are drawn, marked out with a stick
it divides us all further than where the boundaries shift.
The fallout of their sibling rivalry means death in abundance
first counted in single digits, onto tens and then hundreds.
Yet thousands to millions of lives are affected
with countless civilians left searching for pride in the wreckage.
When “Why?” was the question asked by the younger brother
He was surprised at the letter “Z” answered by Mother Russia.
The up and comer was non-compliant through brute force
instead it’s countries colours had inspired it to do more.
The golden light of a new dawn,
where blue skies appear in the region
united in uniformity to promise its people their freedom.
White lies had been proved false, evil can’t prevail over good,
Blue ink dries on its new laws,
written in Ukrainian blood.
The way that things currently stand there’s no temporary truce,
but we’re not waving another white flag, only the yellow and blue.
