Recording location and mixing?
So now that I'm at the new crib I'ma try recording again but had a couple quick questions idk if any of you assholes will help or be knowledgeable in it.
I got my mic in the corner room (no padding yet but I do have a sE reflection piece) but our ceilings 12ft and we have wood floors. When it comes to mixing I know the environment is a crucial part, is having them high ass ceilings gonna hurt my mixing? I heard wood floors add good natural reverb but I'm jc if anyone has ideas on this? I don't have a closet to put my mic in, the next place I put my mic is the trash can. |

The main thing is not overcomplicating it. Get a good mic, in a quiet room, where the wires aint touching other wires.
Its not going to be perfect but it will be clean enough But wprd just get like a 100 dollar audio technica condensor mic and the cheapest interface and dont overdo any effects. Super light noise reduction. Go easy on the eq, and decent compression. Good enough.

I have a BlueBird mic, also an Apex 460 which I don't use anymore.
At my old place I made a small room with just blankets hanging from the ceiling but this ceiling is too high. I can put a rug or something on the floor and pad the corner room and shit but not much I can do with the ceiling....it's gonna make the vocals sound less condensed cuz the room. Idk I'll fuck around and experiment once I hook up my PC. Kinda figured it's a fucked location |
