Grass like Gaia reaching at me, vultures simply preaching to preach,
wind whispering fleeting mysteries, my focus seething and peaked.
The dirt beneath my feet softens, paw prints releasing centipedes,
my prey believes she drinks alone, I stroll slowly, breathing in ease.

In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle, no lion sleeps tonight,
for we feast on the weak, so discreet, the sky believes it's alive.

Prone at the end of the field, stones between me and my meal,
bones, meat, it's raw appeal; soaking up the sunlight's ordeal.
I ready to pounce, saliva builds in my mouth as I spring forward,
my teeth deep in her shoulder, her pleas bleed till the dream's over.

Wiping sweat from my flesh, every breath the cold collects,
my wife by my side, moonlight ignites her throat and breasts.
In my peripheral sight, something catches my mind,
mixed into the silver silk is a crimson milk leaving me horrified.

She doesn't move, something new,
puncture wounds in her collarbone, ribs bloody too.

I leap to my feet, the window reflects the murderous beast,
vermillion smeared across my teeth, looking like a wolverine.
Her skin beneath my fingernails, staring at her Wintered face,
making me hungry and wanting more of that tender taste...

I'm scared, but not of what I've done...
there's a part of me that wants to swallow her tongue.
The raw protein drives me into an immortal state,
takes me to a place that feels like a moral grace.

I crawl across the sheets, our eyes locked tight,
she's never looked more human, meanwhile I've lost mine.
I always knew something internal lingered...
there's an animal in all of us; a nocturnal creature.
