Welcome to the scene of the crime, Detectives.
A lot has happened tonight and it ain't all been pretty like your exes... I'll fill you in on the details as we go along. But let's start off by stating the obvious: We got a dead body on our hands. Someone has blood on theirs. Your job is to find out who. Right now we're focusing on the facts, JUST the facts, and nothing but. We clear? The clues leading to the murderer, the murder weapon and the motive can be found somewhere below. God knows I've scoured the crime scene for h'ours, on end... so be sure to Look Closely and check everywhere. You never know where the truth may Hide... Since this is a no-show verse, please VOTE for your number one suspect instead; The first one to name the murderer AND provide the weapon used along with a general-close-enough motive, will receive a Win on their record and a cool Accomplishment that I have lined up with a mod (more details later.) Consider this like a picture challenge. But be cautious... If you get it wrong you will get a Loss on your record. Seriously. So don't jump to conclusions unless you're sure. It might just be better for you to sit this one out, rookie. Still dead-set on solving it? Good. Just remember: Not all evidence rears its ugly head the first time around... Happy Hunting. Guns In: A Murder Mystery ... ... New Orleans, Louisiana - July 4th, 1969 Insider trading's forbidden; Tell that to every bank statement written Most players came to visit based on how Mr. Blank made a living No stranger to Dentistry, he now had an estate and a business Plus a strange affinity for staging mysteries, taking the place of the victim That's not the case in this instance, he ushered in murders as gimmicks No term in a prison, his wife died in circumstances determined 'suspicious' The verdict was given, Not Guilty... Nothing is solved in the courts He is the sole benefactor to an infant son who he called 'Ben' for short... Hitchcockian lore on TV absorbed this aficionado of horror Lots were misinformed by the invitation that got them in the door... It was stuffed with cash and read: Mr. Blank's soiree for singles and couples - Come mingle for lunch! Stay until sundown! (Written in red pen so there was an inkling of fun) A party of Brobdingnagian proportions! That word should become a feature at once Feeling pent up? My penthouse will release your frustrations 300 meters above Sea level, plus-- The invitation was ripped here and is being reconstructed... It's a new summer of the Whodunit, the evening has come Glasses clink and drinking's begun with a subtle wink and the gun By Mr. Teebaum; a partner cut in before the stock market plummet Top of the summit yet lost his money while Mr. Blank profited from it Teebaum can't stomach this without a rum and coke in his hand Focused and scanning, being labelled a laughing stock brokered his plan He paid the Fat Man with the camcorder to try and make it last Fireworks reverberating blasts in the night sky outside a pane of glass (Boom) Mrs. Dollarhyde doesn't bat an eye, just samples the culinary fruit She's under the influence AND the only woman of color in the room Consuming a gin and tonic, the former maid of Mr. Blank was forced to quit Reports had hinted at slave-like torture and rapes by subordinates She was told, "Explain it away or find youself splayed for a coroner" Of course her gaze can't ignore the Knives on display in the corner... Ms. Rowan sipped a vodka on-the-rocks like a horny widow (which she was) Her husband died after "jumping" out of a 21 story window Her associates all claimed BS; bridges once mended sway free She achieved everything men did, a beat cop suspended on paid leave "Did you bring your gun?" Mrs. Dollarhyde asked; it was hard to admit "This will drive Teebaum into fits" Ms. Rowan said, "But I came armed to the tits" Laughs started up quick; Mrs. Locke knew the whole venue was weird At least escaping by the skin of her teeth would show fresh new veneers... Ms. Rowan sneered, "A dentist chair is quite the hobby to sit through" Mrs. Locke smiled, "I'm just looking for something to sink my teeth into..." No telling the agony of gum hypoplasia and pain in her head Safe thing to bet there's a grudge for the estate not paying the debt Odd Mr. Blank fills the center of attention... A Silhouette coughs... Lights go down, glass breaks - A SHOT rings out like a wet cloth Lights flick on; A Shadow rushes down a drab lit hall Mr. Blank lives up to his name as blood drips out of his limp jaw Mrs. Locke drops phony teeth; Teebaum throws his tie and goes to leave Ms. Rowan glances at her empty holster and disguises it so no one sees Baby Ben squeals from his nursery; All reasonable doubt is concealed Whoever finds the gun is the Glass Onion - They'll never get out on appeal "Was the shot even real?" Someone yells, "I am over this game!" "His name IS Mr. Blank," screams a Lady, "Could the ammo be the same?" Accusations commenced; Players were walking out stressed "The gunshot was self inflicted!" A Guest awkwardly guessed "A firework came through the window and lodged in his chest!" All were incredibly viable theories yet the dots don't connect That's when Ben was acquired and carried by Mrs. Dollarhyde His baby blue's scrutinizing like he's trying to solve the crime He looks to the kitchen island, all Knives Out come quitting time The spry young infant cries when he spies the one missing knife... Mrs. Dollarhyde had the Sense to Find it, she's never felt this alive She said, "I think I'll call you Benoit Blanc... it's a lot more dignified..." "If someone says you'll be the best detective of the century it's a lie" "You'll be the best the world has ever seen... It's elementary, little guy" (He stops crying) Dentures, a Pistol and a Business Tie - There's more here than meets the eye Mrs. Dollarhyde smiles, "Let's get out of here before the police arrive..." Seek And Ye Shall Find The Truth In Lies8-9-1-9-4-5 http://knives-out.fandom.com/wiki/Benoit_Blanc 50 Years Later... ... ... Rewards for solving the case: - A Win on your record - 'A Shot in the Dark Mystery' accomplishment Remember: You will receive a Loss if you get it wrong. Good luck.
