I disagree. and im in the strong minority here. but I believe that good music is good music in any era. a good melody does not become shit ever. the same reason that people liked it then would make them like it today

It's one thing to say music from the past still sounds great now. But it wouldn't be a hit now. There's this girl group, Haim, that basically jacked the sound of (good) 1980s pop rock. But Haim isn't make a splash the same way those groups did, not because the music is worse but because it's not what the mainstream wants at the moment. So music critics and a lot of music fans really like Haim, but they're not getting noticed on the large stage.

that song was popular in 76 and then when introduced for the first time to a completely different audience became wildly popular once again. the majority of people that pushed it to number two in 1992 had never heard the song before. I was one of them. but it was a hit. so chew on that for a minute.
